ASSESSING THE DAMAGE AND PRIORITISING THE WORK

As with fire damage, water damage requires prompt action to limit the secondary damage and claims costs. Our Flood and Water Damage Repair Specialists carry out a triage process to Limitation of water damage to determine what work needs to be carried out urgently i.e:

Items in need of urgent attention to prevent secondary damage
Items that are beyond restoration

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

We are registered BDMA and IICRC technicians and have undergone training for drying after water damage.

DRYING OUT YOUR POSSESSIONS AND PROPERTY

We remove the wet items which might damage polished surfaces, place wooden furniture on blocks to prevent damage from water wicking up legs, open doors to assist drying. If it is possible to do so, we also remove wet carpets and rugs within the property. Finally we sanitise and install dehumidifiers and air movers to start the drying program.

IF YOUR HOME HAS BEEN DAMAGED BY CONTAMINATED WATER (BLACK WATER):

Contaminated water (black water) can present a risk to yourself and building occupant if the property is not thoroughly decontaminated. Care also needs to be taken during the cleaning process to prevent the risk of infection or risk from other contamination while the cleaning is carried out.

It is commonly understood that storm water may contain sewage, but you also need to be aware of the possibly of other types of contamination, for example from nearby industrial or agricultural premises.
